Who would have guessed that fly fishing art, tackle, and old equipment would become a hot topic of some home decoration ideas for non-fly fishers?
Of course fishermen have decorated their tackle rooms, studies, and dens with fly fishing art for as long as the sport has been popular.
It’s a way of living the fly fishing dream when you’re stuck at home wishing and visualizing that you were doing battle with a huge rainbow trout.
And I use the term “fly fishing art” very loosely. I’m not talking about classy prints or photos of meandering rivers and solo fishermen casting in the early morning haze.
No, this article discusses using fly fishing tackle as decorating pieces in the home, specifically the bathroom (of all places).
Maybe the author’s husband spends an inordinate amount of time contemplating the universe in that room and his wife wanted him to be right at home in his beloved surroundings, close to the water and his fly. Anyway …
Decorate Your Home with Fly Fishing Art
“When decorating a bathroom in a fly fishing theme, consider light tan or light sage green paint for the walls. These colors are the most appropriate for the subject. It will make a beautiful background for wall decor and tabletop accents. My downstairs bathroom is light tan, and it looks fantastic with the fly fishing bathroom decor that I have chosen.”
Any joking or snide comments aside, I don’t know any fanatical fly fishers that would not welcome a spouse searching for ways to make the fly fishing theme of home decoration come to life at their place!
Most active fly fishermen have lots of tackle and old or out-dated equipment that they would quickly donate to the cause. Forget having to watch for items here are there at local garage sales or second-hand stores.
Obviously, some decorators are thinking “outside the box” here. But this idea may actually be a great one for those of us that just can’t get enough fly fishing art or decoration in our daily lives.
